Storm Locker (2011)
Storm Locker is an old wooden locker with three compartments. A set of keys hang on the wall, the keys unlock only one compartment. Behind the locked door lies another world, representing the concept of an in-between world, between the real and the imaginary. Based on 'Storm' a poem written and performed as an audio piece as part of this installation.
This Installation combines screen prints with animation and projection with poetry. The scene inside the locker presents the viewer with a visual representation of the poem, 'Storm', a voice recording can be heard through a set of headphones. Inside the locker, screen prints surround the inner walls with abstract images of a storm and individual sections of the prints have been cut up to create a 3D scene in the foreground. The animation is the screen print separated into different layers of colour, altered and edited to create movement. The animation is back projected onto a screen of strips, these become animated as an electric fan hidden in the side compartment creates a whirlwind inside. Materials: Wooden locker, paper, card, mixed media with projector, media player, electric fan and headphones. |
